Father's Day gift ideas 05/20/09 by
I wish I had something unique to to offer, but this year I am going with a grill/smoker. My husband is in desperate need of a new grill and (poor thing) every time we pass the grill section in Walmart or the hardware store he gets a distant look in his eyes like he's dreaming of the day he'll have a new one. I can't wait to surprise him! What are you ladies out there doing for the men in your lives?

So true about the tools, Sam. Every year for Christmas my husband gets a gift certificate in his stocking for one of the hardware stores around town. Even if I think he doesn't need anything, he always finds something he wants. As for Father's Day, we're following in the footsteps of everyone else around here and letting him just chill for his big day. Whatever he wants to do is okay with us. I wish the kids were still young - I'd take them down to Artbeat to paint a tie for him. That's just such a cool idea!

At ARTBEAT on Saturday June 20th we will be painting silk ties for Dad. This is family favorite every year, so reserve a spot if you are interested. Also on Fathers day Sunday Dads paint for free in our studio.
Speaking as a Dad, a handmade gift is always appreciated and just spending time with the family is a great gift!

I think I'm just going to have the kids wait on dad hand and foot. We'll put in Nascar, grill for him and let him truly relax for a change. I can't really think of a great gift to give him this year as he pretty much has everything he wants anyway. So, a day of relaxation seems like a great idea.

Well my dad passed last year, so this will be our first year without him. It will be a sad fathers day, we will go out and visit him, leave some flowers and thank God that we had the time with him that we had. He is surely missed.

With the current economic state that has touched many in our community, the consumer items that often go with these type of Hallmark holidays may go by the wayside. To celebrate my dad, my family is going to spend the day with him, watch Nascar, and probably grill out.

I say get your man some tools. Most of us need/want some new tools, and there are probably some deals to get on some universal ones at Wannabaker or elsewhere. I don't think I ever asked anyone to get me tools, but they sure would be appreciated. One year my dear wife replaced this old beaten-up tape measure for me with the same model. It cost her maybe 5 bucks, but I was so happy about the thought. Its really the thought that counts, isn't it.
